Hippos is one of the Mythos Cyborg members in Tsuguo Okazaki's Cyborg 009 BGOOParts Delete. He is, in a sense, a continuation of the Horse Man character from the original manga.
Appearance[]
As with his classic appearance, Hippos is a man with a dark horse head in place of where an average human's head would be. Like the other cyborgs of his team, he dresses in a white chiton, cloak, and has gladiator sandals.
Personality[]
Having lost the last time he battled the 00 Cyborgs, Hippos is determined to make sure the same thing doesn't happen again in this rematch. He notably battles against 004, showing off his own weaponry in his body.
Relationships[]
004/Albert Heinrich[]
Hippos proves to be a strong match against this cyborg, using his bullets against him in a gun battle. When things seem a close call though, the Super Dolphin's presence is able to make 004 accelerate away from Hippos.
The two wind up fighting again, after 004 gets into a battle with Alogo-Potamo in assisting 007 against such a cyborg. This results in Hippos winding up with his head shot through, being defeated for the time.
Abilities[]
As with the original manga, Hippos has the ability to emit gunfire from the open ports on his neck and his mouth. In this case, it appears more like the results of bullets in order to better parallel 004.
He also has a detachable and extendable left hand, which he uses to cast a net in an attempt to envelop 004. Later on, he is shown to be able to emit and extend a large spear from his right knee, to mirror 004's cannon ability.
History[]
Hippos, like many of his comrades, was once an ordinary but poor Greek man of a particular oppressed group in its population. This motivated him greatly to accept Black Ghost's remodeling offer, believing that he could become a "God" at the cost of his humanity and instead becoming this unusual horse-like creature.
He challenged the 00 Cyborgs on Magma Island, but their battle was cut short by the destruction and sinking of that island. The 00 Cyborgs believed that Hippos and the other Mythos Cyborgs had died, but in fact there was a parallel world in which that team had been revealed to have survived far into the future; this fact was made possible by Hera having teleported the other Mythos members to a secret laboratory of Dr. Gaia. From there, the cyborgs slept in stasis, awaiting the day they could be revived and needed again.
Hippos and the rest would indeed awaken 50 years later, being spurred on by Helena's abilities after Hera called out to her to do so. The revitalized Mythos team would be willing to fight the parallel 00 Cyborgs who had come from another world of the past, with a mission to purely finish them off. Hippos would fight against the team, particularly taking on 004 in an early battle, but would experience failure again and again. Ultimately, he and his team members decided to destroy the stasis pods they would be revived in, deciding that their fates would be final and that they wouldn't be toyed with by Zeus.
Unfortunately for Hippos, the power-hungry Zeus would throw in another twist when he unleashed his guard robots Athena and Ares. The destructive power of the two robots would make quick work of many of the Mythos Cyborgs, ensuring their final end.
