World of Shotaro Ishinomori

Atlas is a member of the Mythos Cyborg team, appearing to some extent within Tsuguo Okazaki's Cyborg 009 BGOOParts Delete. He is, in a sense, a continuation of the original manga character although not active in the arc.

Appearance[]

Like before, Atlas has the appearance of a massive robot with hollowed-out eyes. Inside his discarded head, it can be seen he has a special brain chamber, although Hera has taken up residence in it.

Personality[]

Atlas's persona has long since departed, but in the past he was a protector of Helena and was entirely grateful to Hera for helping save his teammates. It was in this deal with Hera that he let her merge with his brain, sacrificing himself in the process.

Relationships[]

Hera[]

When Hera was mortally wounded in the process of teleporting the other dead or wounded Mythos Cyborgs to safety, Atlas called out to her and made a deal that she could preserve herself within him for having preserved "the souls of the Mythos".

Hera would transfer her mind and powers into Atlas' brain chamber, resting there for 50 years.

Helena[]

Helena would find and pilot Atlas' discarded body, using her "Artemis Neural Network" to interface with it and attempt to use it in battle against Dr. Gaia's killer robots. Unfortunately, Gaia would awaken at his full Zeus power and utilize that body to smite Helena, killing her and destroying the rest of Atlas in the process.

Abilities[]

It can be figured that Atlas had his super strength in the past, as well as his lasers. As with before, his body can be utilized in pieces to attack.

History[]

Atlas, like the other Mythos Cyborgs, was once a normal human man in Greece, although heavily marginalized and subject to poverty and other indignities. It was these circumstances that made him so willing to accept Dr. Gaia and Dr. Uranus's offer and promise that he could become a "God".

In his original battle against the 00 Cyborgs, he was reduced to only functioning as his head after an ultimately failed ambush on Submarine 101. His fate is then clarified within the BGOOParts Delete story, revealing that he mentally reached out to the dying Hera and stored her consciousness within himself.

The discarded head of Atlas would lie at the bottom of the sea for the next 50 years, along with the rest of his damaged and forgotten body parts, providing an intense curiosity to divers wondering the significance of such things. It would then rise with the awakening of Hera, who would call out to the other Mythos Cyborgs to awaken, utilizing Helena to restore the rest to their full strength.

Atlas's body parts would continue to prove useful in some form, with Helena attempting to use his body to help her fight, only for such an effort to fail.
